Why lactose-free?

About 15 percent of the population in Germany, Austria and Switzerland suffer from a lactose intolerance; in Asia, the number is significantly higher. Lactose is a type of sugar that is by nature contained in milk and thus dairy products such as yogurt or cheese that has not matured. With a lactose intolerance, this sugar cannot be digested properly, as the body does not produce sufficient amounts of the required enzyme - or doesn't produce it at all. For this reason, discomforts can end up being bad or not so bad.

The plant-based products by Simply V are a good choice for those affected as they are lactose-free by nature.

Why milk-free?

Lactose-free does not necessarily mean milk-free. This is an important difference for people who suffer from a milk protein allergy. It is not the milk sugar that causes them difficulties but the protein contained in the milk. The body categorises it as dangerous, causing a defence action by the immune system. The symptoms can be similar to a lactose intolerance, meaning each disease pattern is often mistaken for the other.

All Simply V products are made from plant-based ingredients only, and are thus fully milk-free and therefore also milk protein and lactose-free. People who are allergic to milk protein can enjoy all our products without hesitation.

Why gluten-free?

Gluten is a protein that can be found in many types of grains such as wheat and rye. About one percent of the population suffer from an autoimmune reaction after ingesting gluten, which is accompanied by an inflammation of and damage to the small intestine. They suffer from a gluten intolerance, also called coeliac disease. As even the smallest amounts of gluten can cause great discomfort to those affected, the only therapy is a life-long gluten-free diet.

However, discomfort can also be induced by a gluten sensitivity, which is not caused by an allergy. This can occur at any age and disappear again after a longer-lasting gluten-free diet.

Gluten can not only be found in types of grains but also in a lot of processed food. This is why those affected have to be particularly careful and take a close look at the ingredients stated.
